project #1

residential office+
homeschool room

This client had a home office that was being used as a multi-purpose area. She wanted to turn this room into a dedicated office that would act as a homeschool room for her son and as an office for her to work from home. She was very pleased with the outcome.

This was one of my favorite projects, and I’d be happy to do the same for you.

project #2

residential garage

This client's garage became a landing place for miscellaneous items. Also, the refrigerator was blocking view of anyone who might enter the garage through the back door into the house. Moving a few things around and giving everything a designated spot, this garage cleaned up nicely and the client was able to park both cars in their garage again.

project #3

residential
child's room

This client had a toddler and a newborn. The mom worked third shift and dad worked first shift. The shift difference and parent trade-off made chores very difficult with a very busy toddler. Simplifying by purging the excess, separating play area from sleep area, and creating storage space helped this family manage these difficulties better.

project #4

business office
social services agency

This client was a non-profit foster care organization offering social services to children in their community. With a 12' x 8' room previously used for employee cubicles, there was minimal space to store donations such as toys, school supplies, and clothing items. Out of Sorts designed a small walk-thru shopping area with shelving units to make it easier for their caseworkers to grab and go.

There is no job too big or too small for home or business.

project #5

small business
offices

This client was an independent make-up consultant. Previously, she organized her product on her dinner table, making the dining area counterproductive and unsightly. Making use of an awkward concave that otherwise created dead-space, having shelving installed, and tucking the make-up away in cute bins- made this look tidy, efficient, and professional.

project #6

nursing home
assisted living

Out of Sorts understands that these are difficult decisions & transitions for both family members and the client. We will treat your loved ones as if they are our family member and will make their small rooms feel as close to home as possible while doing our best to accommodate any special needs.

Unfortunately, due to a crippling stroke, this client lost her home, had to downsize all her belongings, and went through a double transition before settling into a more permanent space; first, to a nursing home and eventually to a long-term assisted living arrangement.

CHRONIC DISORGANIZATION due to bipolar disorder
ACQUIRING AND HOARDING

Out of Sorts provides judgment-free organizing to all clients.

In years past, it was thought that someone with chronic disorganization or hoarding tendencies was just lazy and dirty. While that can be a factor, research has shown that these behaviors are often attached to other mental health conditions and not all hoarders are filthy. Some example causes are Grief, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, ADHD.

In light of this, Out of Sorts professionals work intimately and delicately with hoarding clients to improve their current living conditions. Though we have had clients ready to take this step on their own, most often we have teamed up with family and mental health professionals to help our clients properly acknowledge their hoarding behavior and process any deep-rooted emotions keeping them attached & buried under clutter.

This Client had trouble each time she lapsed with her Bipolar disorder. Out of Sorts can make routine or emergency appointments to help our clients 'sort it out' quickly!

project #8

CHRONIC DISORGANIZATION due to depression/grief
ACQUIRING AND HOARDING

This client suffered the loss of her parents when her hoarding began. She lived in this apartment for 21 years. The upstairs apartment flooded her apartment below but because of the embarrassment and shame, she never had any visitors including maintenance. The water destroyed the electrical fixtures in the ceiling and molded the walls and all her possessions which essentially made this apartment a safety hazard. She was being evicted.

Her out of state family decided she should come live with them to intervene. She had to get rid of all big furniture pieces and downsize to a few suitcases. Out of Sorts, worked with her to process her losses, purge all her belongings and prepare for this transition. These were the last photos I took prior to her move. I am unsure if she finished or left things behind but much was accomplished anyway!
